International Jazz Day is held globally on 30 April every year.
In 2019 The Arts Unit worked with James Morrison and the organisers of International Jazz Day to provide opportunities for students, teachers and schools to get involved. A composition competition was held for NSW Public Schools students. The joint winners were Flynn Poppleton from Newtown High School of the Performing Arts and Naomi Nogawa-Lewy from Summer Hill Public School!
Their arrangements are now available for school bands to learn. Watch their performance at the Sydney Opera House and download the scores for your band!

The Jazz Orchestra is an advanced ensemble that performs at notable Sydney venues and NSW jazz festivals. They also tour to regional NSW performing and participating in workshops.
